PocketRocket 2 Mini Stove Kit Review
This PocketRocket 2 Mini Stove Kit review is based on over five years of real camping and backpacking use. I’ve used this stove kit on countless trips, and it’s been compact, durable, and incredibly reliable. The pot and bowl were especially convenient, and I loved that everything, including a small 4-oz gas canister, fit neatly inside the pot and stuff sack.
The only incident I’ve ever had was entirely user error. After a long, exhausting drive from San Diego to Zion National Park because the I-15 was backed up with road works, I was setting up camp while boiling water and forgot I’d left the plastic bowl on the outside of the pot. The plastic melted over the stove and actually extinguished the flame. My first thought was, shoot, I just ruined this stove and won’t be able to use it anymore. But to my surprise, I was able to light it again without any issues. The remaining bits of hardened plastic eventually melted off with use, and after a few more trips, the stove looked like nothing had ever happened. Years later, it still works perfectly. Obviously, I don’t carry the bowl anymore, which honestly makes the kit even more ultralight. You can see the aftermath of that whole situation in this Instagram story.
