Feathered Friends Lark 10 UL Sleeping Bag Review

This is a long-term review of the Feathered Friends Lark 10 UL sleeping bag, a piece of gear that has been central to my kit for five years. Selecting the right sleeping bag was a significant challenge for me; after moving from Europe, I had to completely rebuild my gear kit in 2020. Because COVID-19 made in-store testing impossible and stock was incredibly limited, I turned to Feathered Friends, drawn by their values and impressive range of over 35 down models.

Because gear was selling out so fast, I set up notifications for several models, the Egret, Petrel, Lark, and Hummingbird, and let fate decide. I finally managed to snag the Lark 10 UL, and five years later, I am still thoroughly pleased with the choice.

Versatility and Performance

While I sometimes consider a women-specific bag like the Egret 20 UL to save a few ounces, the Lark 10 UL offers the flexibility I need. It strikes a perfect balance, providing deep warmth on chilly spring and fall nights without feeling stifling during the summer.

Adaptability: For extreme cold, I pair this with my 55F summer bag. The Lark weighs just 1 lb 15.3 oz, and even with an 8 oz summer bag added, the total weight remains manageable and adaptable for various conditions.
Comfort and Fit: This is a standard-width mummy bag designed to balance space without excess. Even as a “men’s” model, it provides plenty of room to sleep comfortably while maintaining a rock-solid three-season rating.
