Nikwax Tent & Gear SolarWash & SolarProof Duo Pack
Give your tent rainfly some much-needed maintenance with the Nikwax Tent & Gear Duo Pack, which includes SolarWash for cleaning and SolarProof for restoring water repellency and helping protect the fabric from UV damage.
I used this duo on my six-year-old Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL2 after the rainfly started sticking to itself when folded. After cleaning and reproofing it section by section, the rainfly felt noticeably softer, stopped sticking to itself, and water rolled off the fabric again during my next backpacking trip.
The process took me about 45 minutes to an hour, followed by overnight air drying. I followed the instructions on the bottles and applied the products while working around the rainfly one section at a time.

How I Used It
- Set up the rainfly so I could access the outer fabric.
- Wet one section at a time and applied SolarWash.
- Rinsed each section thoroughly.
- Applied SolarProof while the fabric was still wet.
- Waited two minutes and wiped away the excess.
- Repeated the process around the entire rainfly.
- Left the rainfly set up to air dry completely overnight.
