Have you ever felt stuck creatively? I read so many blog posts about how to get those creative juices flowing again, but something was not clicking. And I still needed to find out how to release creative blocks and unleash creativity.
Creativity has always been a huge part of my life, whether it was through drawing, painting, or even inventing dessert recipes. I never had to even think about it, it would just always come to me naturally. So why is it so much harder as an adult?
I spent a long time focusing on photography and gave up on drawing for years. I love photography because it allows me to spend a lot of time outdoors, and get out of my head at the same time. But lately, I’ve been bored of shooting and editing photos, but I also couldn’t pick up a pen and paper anymore either, because I would just stare at a blank page for hours. Based on my childhood memories though, I know it’s in me somewhere… I just have to connect with it again.
Energy healing has been a big part of my daily routine for many years. I use various techniques during my walking breaks from work, to help release stress from my body and mind, and cultivate a positive mindset. One of my favorite techniques is EFT tapping, and it was only a matter of time before I “tapped” to heal my creativity blocks.
What is EFT tapping?
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. Also known as “tapping”, it is an energy healing technique, inspired by acupressure, that can help you release stress and negative energy blocks.
In a nutshell, you focus on the negative emotion to acknowledge it, whilst tapping on specific meridian points all over your face and body. Once you feel like the negative is cleared, you do a positive round to reinforce positive beliefs instead. The more specific you are, the better it will work. It is one of the most powerful techniques you can use. Best of all, it’s free and you can do it from anywhere at any time.
To find out more, check out the Tapping Solution’s “Tapping 101” crash course. They also have many videos on youtube.
Tapping is usually more efficient if you use your own words and focus on your own specific emotions and issues, but there are plenty of videos on youtube that you can follow along to help you get going. I’ve felt so many shifts from simply following youtube videos. You can just change the words to fit your personal situation as and when required. Even tapping along with someone else’s words is beneficial, and called “borrowing benefits”. This is because everything is energy, and we are all connected energetically.
And are you yawning, sighing, or even burping, when you tap? Those are great signs that it’s working and you are shifting energy, so keep going!
How to use EFT tapping to release creative blocks and unleash creativity?
For less than an hour on a Friday, I followed YouTube videos that I found by searching “EFT creativity“. I adjusted the words to fit my situation better and get more out of my session. I yawned a little, but nothing major and I did not immediately notice anything different.
The next day I went to the beach to shoot the sunset. As I walked on the beach with my camera, I noticed that I felt way more inspired than I had been in a long time. I kept getting visions of photos I could make. I spontaneously started using photography techniques that I saw on Instagram, but I had never even thought of trying before. Later that evening, I picked up a pen and paper when I got home, and for the first time in years, I was able to finally draw again without having to think about it.
My mind was full of energy and ideas. I started feeling like my younger creative self again. Inspiration is everywhere again. I don’t need to think about it anymore, my creative juices blissfully flow again.
I receive so many design ideas that I’ve had to start a list to remember them all. If I start feeling blocked again, I can use that list to get inspired again, and I also can top myself up with another EFT tapping session.
Below are some of the videos that I found really useful, and I hope they can help you too if you ever get stuck. Let me know how you get on in the comments below.
